Chris Brown: Helping Haiti not about me

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Former Billboard chart-topper Chris Brown says his efforts to help Haiti are authentic and have nothing to do with him trying to rebuild his image.
Oh, and he announced a new venture where he's selling ice cubes to Eskimos.
The "I Can Transform Ya" star recently had this to say about those that question his motives. “When it’s a question of, ‘Oh, is he doing this to gain fans or get his image back?’ it hurts,” he said. “When you do something genuinely from your heart, it’s not for PR or press. If that was the case, I’d try to get Obama or somebody.”
Obama? Did you hear that Obama? Chris said he'd get you -- like pull you out of a hat, when needed (would he tell some jokes, maybe?).
Chris has a benefit concert in Richmond, Virgina, called "Virginia Stand Up," which will raise funds for Haiti.
He says he's been getting major love. “The response has been incredible,” Chris told Popeater.com. “I still live out here, so people come up to me if I’m in the store and tell me, ‘I think it’s great what you’re doing.’ It’s going to be incredible. Everybody’s happy about it.”
Chris Brown needs major image rehab. Haiti needs major rehab. I think he should do all he can to help the struggling country after January's catastrophic earthquake, but Chris, let's be real, bro: You need this.
It's okay, I'm with it, it's a good cause, just don't fake the funk, dude.
Remember, you have nothing to lose.

Rihanna's 'Rude Boy' rules charts

Monday, March 22, 2010

Rihanna's hit single "Rude Boy" has reached No. 1 on the hot 100 charts, according to Billboard. RiRi has been here before. Here's a rundown of her No. 1s:
"Live Your Life" featuring T.I. - 2008
"Disturbia" - 2008
"Take a Bow" - 2008
"Umbrella" featuring Jay-Z - 2007
"SOS" - 2006
Some artists may make fun of her, but Rihanna is getting it in on the charts, which means dollar signs for the music industry, and her pockets (when she's wearing them). Since her infamous incident with Chris Brown her album 'Rated R', the cover girl has spawned three singles -- "Russian Roulette," "Hard," and now "Rude Boy" -- that have all landed in the Top 10. Lest we forget, she got a Grammy last year for "Run This Town," not to mention she's been appointed as one of Barbados' honorary cultural ambassadors. Can your Bey do that? (just kidding, sorta)

Who's the Most Hated Black Man in America?

Friday, March 5, 2010

Just the thought of him makes some people recoil in anger. His smile is one that calls to mind utter distrust and seething hate. He is, quite easily, the MHBMA, Most Hated Black Man in America.
Well, who?
If there was a poll, some would say Barack Hussein Obama (they won't let that 'Hussein' part go). Some would say Tiger Woods. Others would say, Al Sharpton, or how about Van Jones? Michael Steele, or even Chris Brown. But I think the two leading vote-getters would be Tiger and Obama. Why?
Well, let's just say Tiger has unearthed the dormant disgust of a nation sick of celebrity-worship and entitled athletes. Plus, he's recent cheating prowess is, well, unmatched.
Obama on the other hand, is, well, how can we say it -- remember in "New Jack City" when Nino Brown told G-Money to "sit your $5 butt down before I make change?" -- yeah, something about change.
It's deep, too. You know there are still people out there that think Obama is an immigrant? Fox News is contagious, people.

Best of 09: Rihanna dominated the news

Thursday, December 31, 2009

No other celebrity made news like Rihanna in 2009. So what if 80% of it (well, 95%) was about a kid putting his hands on her? They say bad publicity is better than no publicity at all. And if that's true then RiRi totally took over in '09, gracing at least every magazine cover in the world with the most (in)famous image of 2009 (you know the one). Through it all, she even managed to put out a little music and even was declared a disciple of Satan. Not bad for somebody that was on hiatus for 75% of the year.

Is Rihanna getting played?

Looks like Rihanna's over it. Are we?

Blonde ambition: RiRi is golden

Rihanna: ReSpectacled

Your girl Rihanna has rocked many different kinds of glasses/shades along the way?
Does Ms. Fenty actually wear glasses in real life?
We think so, but she's not the kind to keep them clear-lens. She has rocked shades of any kind and many kind through the years.
But is she blind?

Christopher Brown: Revisited

Thursday, October 22, 2009

Well, you knew it would come to this, didn't you?
The rehabilitation of Chris Brown is in full effect, with a new album ready to be dropped and a slew of marketing and promotion to do.
So, will you buy "it"?
No, not the fact that a mere adolescent is asking the world to forgive him for a crime that was made worse by the media's boundless publicity of it. It's not like Mr. Brown didn't have enough attention from some.
I'm talking about the album. I hear there's some decent numbers on there, including the pretty good "Crawl."
Will you be a Chris Brown fan again?

Do You Ever Forgive a Beater?

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

If a man, or woman, puts their hands on you, is it automatically curtains for the relationship?
People fight everyday; over money, over custody, over nothing, but it's for the most part verbal.
But ever so often confrontations turn physical. And when they do, the harm is superficial or deep and longlasting, but either way it usually signals the end of the union.
Should it?
Should you ever keep a "friend" that has proven that he or she will jump on you?
Some people may say that once someone touches you then a sacred line has been crossed and you're better off living -- before you get killed! I can't disagree with that sentiment. However, the old folks have a saying also: If he'll lie, he'll steal; if he'll steal, he'll kill.
So, from that viewpoint, a liar will dead you too.
The moral of the story? Stay away from Cheaters.
