The Rise of Dudes Wearing Wigs

Sunday, November 8, 2009

You thought it was just the girls with the weave?
So did I, but apparently, there is a burgeoning demand for hair pieces for men. It may come from the underrated market for men's hair due to male pattern baldness, but whatever it's sources. It's here to stay.
Now, don't get me wrong; men have been wearing wigs for years, but it's never been a huge market for young people. Now, it's growing Lfrom the retirement set down to young people.
But, you, what about you? Would you be cool with dating a man who wore a wig?

The Return of 'Dressing Up'

Thursday, March 12, 2009

When was the last time you and a friend actually "dressed up," to go out? I've blogged about this before, but it's paramount that we start looking good, people. Church doesn't count. I mean, dressed up to go to a nice place. It could be a free place, but you looked nice. No baggy jeans. No hat pulled sideways across the face. Women: No bellie button peaking out from under your shirt. No thong crest in view. And are there places to go in the city where people can look nice?

Andre 3000's Clothing Line 'Surviving'

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Favorite ATLien Andre Benjamin, one-half of the successful duo Outkast, is quoted in The New York Observer as saying he'll leave The A if his clothing line takes off. He said the line is not necessarily troubled, but is "surviving." Personally I like the Benjamin Bixby line, especially the fall collection. The first thing you notice about the Benjamin Bixby line is the warm inner lining. Everything is well insolated. It's a prep-school look, for sure though.
As of now, no word on a women's line though.

They Don't 'Dress' No Mo

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Dudes stopped dressing years ago.
Used to be a time when we as much as went to the corner store, we put on a belt, combed our hair and tried to look upwardly casual. Now, the lazy look has taken over. What happened? Some would fault the hip-hop culture, but are there economic reasons as well? Brothers have slipped financially in the last 10 years, like never before. Money has gone to the sisters, as evidenced by the plethora of single women in the ATL with homes. But does that excuse a brother from dressing up sometimes, besides going to church?
