Phat-a-tat-tat: Inked up is in

Monday, February 1, 2010

The prototypical woman is changing before our eyes. There used to be a certain look that American society dictated women to look like. In most cases, especially in the last 50 years, that look has been European (let's be honest). But now we're seeing a more independent streak in feminine grooming. Women are taking skin art, piercings and ink, to a whole new level.
The cute roses and half-moons used to be in a few years back, but now people are getting whole Bible verses and the like tatted on their muscles. Is this such a thing as too much of a good thing?
These are not your bridesmaid-type chicks, either. There is increasingly a biker-chick vibe going on, a visual toughness.
It's hard to explain. Or maybe it's just hard.

All the Rage: UV Ray Tattoos (Glow in the Dark)

Friday, March 13, 2009

The latest fad to hit human civilization is the glow-in-the-dark tattoo.
A story on Tattooique says:
UV or Blacklight tattoos are tattoos made with a special ink that is only visible under a blacklight. Once a tattoo is healed it won’t be seen at all unless you use Ultraviolet. Here are some pros and cons for you to know:
Would you get one?

Tatted Love: Are Tattoos Still Cool?

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

The tat.
Nothing (not hair, not clothes) in the past 15 years has been more an expression of individuality than the tattoo.
If you look in old school yearbooks in the 1970s and 1980s you'd be hardpressed to find an expressive tattoo outside the small ink spot or initials. But about the early 1990s, the tattoo has enjoyed a large resurgence.
The origin of the word tattoo is from the Samoan word tatau, meaning "open wound." And it's named for good reason, for a tattoo is an insertion of ink into a layer of skin. Eurasians are said to have been the first to use tattoos as symbols of kinship, rites of passage and cultural identification.
But today? People rock tats because they look cool.
But will they forever? Sagging, wrinkled tattoos will be the norm in as few as 10 years as the generation that first got them in the 1990s gets up in age. What do you think? Cool or no?

Don't they have spellcheck?
