Sheree Whitfield: Actress?

Friday, February 12, 2010

Atlanta "Housewives" star Sheree Whitfield has been biten by the acting bug, albiet on the Chitlin Circuit.
She'll star in the Gospel play "Heaven I Need A Hug," written by Dallas, Texas playwright Kendrick D. Young.
The play, which is based loosely on Young's life growing up in a household that included a mother who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, is about a family coping with skeletons in the closet and demons real and imagined.
No word of if Sheree will play a demon (which she has shown talent for) but we think it'll be entertaining. The cast also includes Judy Peterson, from Tyler Perry's, "Madea Goes to Jail," music artist Dave Hollister, and a whole lotta church singin'. I just hope Sheree doesn't start singing. Somehow her with the Holy Ghost just doesn't sound right. And how good can a play based on an R. Kelly song really be, ya know? Don't worry, this too shall pass.

Is NeNe Leakes Evil?

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

You could see signs of it last year, NeNe Leakes of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" could be catty and confrontational when it was totally unnecessary. She put Sheree Whitfield on her hitlist because she felt she let Kim Zolciak get in between their friendship.
This season she's taken on Zolciak, mended fences with Sheree, and squared off with newcomer Kandi Burruss (Did you notice how big Kandi's mouth got when she was telling NeNe to "Bring it DOOOoooowNNN. lol".
But what's up with NeNe? Is she evil, or just in need of constant attention and the adulation of all those around her?
And is Kim wrong for throwing her off of "Tardy for the Party"?

Can Kandi Burruss Go On?

Sunday, October 4, 2009

Street violence has hit the small screen with the weekend death of Kandi Burruss's ex-fiance Ashley "A.J." Jewell at an Atlanta strip club. A.J. reportedly died after being bashed in the head with a bottle outside a club he was buying. A club employee is being held by police.
With all the sad news, can Kandi go on?
Her first season on the show, Kandi didn't quite fit in -- in a refreshing way -- with the housewife stereotype. Sure, she had the money, and even the fame, but she lacked the obnoxious attitude, the materialistic selfishness that made co-stars like NeNe Leakes and Sheree Whitfield such gossip magnets.
She wasn't exactly good TV.
Like DeShawn Snow, Kandi was a regular chick. She did however have the drama in her life, most of it emanating from her courtship of A.J., the father of six children.
Her mother was deadset against the wedding, and now it will never be.
What people don't know is that Kandi also just lost a loved one, a dear uncle, a week ago, and was already going through a tough time.
Word is that the Bravo people are scrambling with how to deal with A.J.'s death, especially since the reunion show is set to tape next week.
Should they cut him out of the upcoming episodes? Should they re-edit them to reflect his death?
Whatever they do, Kandi will no doubt be cast as a sympathetic character, especially with her disagreements with NeNe coming to a head now.
Somehow the other "Housewives" franchises -- in New York and Orange County, etc. -- had managed to avoid real-life street tragedy, although sickness did manifest itself
but in Atlanta, it came to fruition. Of all places, Atlanta.
Will the show go on? No doubt it will, but will it have a black cloud?
Reach out to Kandi on her Twitter page.

Sculpted Arms Are In - And It's Freezing Outside

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Wouldn't you know it: Sleeveless shirts that show off shapely, cut arms are all the rage these days. Credit First Lady Michelle Obama, who's official White House portrait shows off her svelte figure and accentuates her arms. But she was'nt the first to do this, no, years ago, Angela Bassett showed the world what refined biceps and triceps looked like on a sister. And she's still got it.
Only problem is, it's cold as hell.

Kim Zolciak's FREE Web Site Shut Down due to nonpayment: WTF?

Sunday, February 22, 2009

I'm sure there's a great blonde joke for this, but then again, with Kim Zolciak, the Lawrenceville RN turned "Real Atlanta Housewife," anything's possible. Her free Blogger site has been shut down by the developer due to nonpayment. What?
As a fellow Bloggee, i'm perplexed, check out Kim's site right here.

'ATL Housewife' DeShawn lets go, and lets God

Monday, January 26, 2009

DeShawn Snow has taken the news that she's no longer "Atlanta Housewife" material in stride, devoting more of herself to her DeShawn Snow Foundation and her church, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia.
The fact that DeShawn turned to God after the show throws an interesting light on the other "Atlanta Housewives". What was it about the others that allowed them to make the cut for Season 2? Are the others not spiritual people as well? Or is DeShawn the only angel on the show? From her web site (which has been redesigned recently) she offers that she's had a reawakening since the show.
Rumors that she was the most boring personality in reality show history or that she refused to even try to work out/exercise may not be true, but what is true is that she went through some changes during Season 1.
The biggest was the retirement-due-to-injury of her husband NBA player Eric Snow. Officlally, the Cleveland Cavaliers say he has arthritic-related symptoms in his left knee and has retired. Unofficially he is serving as an assistant coach with the team and may join the staff on a permenent basis this year.
The salary change would be dramatic. After his last contract, in which Snow will be paid $7 million this year, a novice assistant coach will likely drop down to about $400,000 to $500,000. Not small change by any imagination, but enough evidently to get DeShawn to look deeper at her life and where it was going. Below is a statement on her site where she clues the world in on her thought process:

Well, there you have it. Not some anticlimatic reason, but just a simple DeShawn realization. In any event, she's still an ATL housewife, just without the show.

ATL Divorce court: Whitfield vs. Whitfield

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

ATLien Sheree Whitfield, best known for her rascaling with NeNe on the hit Bravo show "Real Housewives of Atlanta" is ordering a do-over in her divorce settlement with former Atlanta Falcons player Bob Whitfield. Not only is she appealing the case, which she lost, to the Georgia Supreme Court, but her attorneys argue that she is incapable of earning an income, thus need Bob's.
Bob Whitfield has a state-of-the-art recording studio that has had major stars come through such as Toni Braxton, Goodie Mob, OutKast and even Rick Springsteen.
Sheree's side of things is basically saying that because of her lack of education and inability to earn a living, the court abused its discretion by not awarding alimony and then ordering her and the children out of their $2.6 million home in Sandy Springs.
The mathmatics of the case is based on the money that Bob earned as an NFL player, where his last contract was for $30 million (including an $8 million signing bonus).
But is Sheree after PatchWerk, his recording studio located on Hemphill Ave, in the ATL? It is the only asset that Bob has that is actually pulling in revenue.
While Bob only claims that he makes $50,000 a year through the studio, the client list begs to differ (perhaps add another 0 on to that).
Despite being a full-time mother, Sheree found time to manager her clothing boutique, “Bella Azul,” which quickly went under under her oversight, her attorneys point out. With only a high school diploma, no marketable job skills and employment prospects, Sheree has painted a picture far different from the one she portrayed on "Real Housewives".

She didn't walk away from the deal without a dime though: She was awarded $2,142.87 a month in child support for the couple's two kids. She also was given more than $1.1 million in a marital property division, a lump sum payment of $775,000 and portions of three NFL retirement programs which total about $113,422 annually. But no alimony.
Is this enough, or does she deserve more?

5 Things We Learned From "Real Housewives of Atlanta"

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

"The Real Housewives of Atlanta":
The show touched upon a more prominent but recently hidden factor about Atlanta: You remember how it was seen as the single woman's paradise 10 years ago (Brothers used to swear by the ATL ratio was 30 to 1)? Well, some of those sisters have gotten married. "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" played up the fact that these women had gotten successful men and bored them kids.
Now, the backdrop was real as well: Lisa Wu Hartwell being the mother of Keith Sweat's children would imply that at least some drama happened, since they're no longer together.

KIM ZOLCIAK MAY BE A MANIAC
At first glance, Kim Zolciak ran the risk of being mistaken as a soccer mom. That prototype was immediately smashed when she flung open her cellphone and proceeded to beg the mysterious "Big Papa" for an Escalade. Then the show slowly bled out her shortcomings, her insecurity about herself, her chainsmoking, her anxiety about being a single mother.
The show used her, instead of a typical black woman, to illustrate what an Atlanta single mother may look like. And it worked. It also showed that she can't hold a note and that she can shed friends like a calico cat.

SHEREE' WHITFIELD WILL PROBABLY STAY SINGLE
Sheree Whitfield, pretty much the one you love to hate, comes off as someone with high self-esteem and a precocious ego that needs stroking as much as her body does when she lay for a massage (Which Kim Zolciak treated her to on Spa Day). I see her as the old, chiseled trophy on the mantle, dusty from years of just staying on the shelf content with watching the world pass them by. Will she get married again? I don't know. The fact that she openly flaunted more than thrice the fact that she was so eagerly awaiting the settling of her divorce case from former Atlanta Falcon Bob Whitfield smacked of a gold-diggerdness (of course she denied it) that I don't think she clearly perceives in herself. Still, I can say that she didn't embarass herself or the ATL.

DESHAWN SHOW DOES SOMETHING:
One of the main stereotypes for athletes wives is that the spouses don't do anything except stay at home or go shopping. DeShawn Snow held it down for the mothers, although she didn't fit the stereotypical profile of a baller's wife (or maybe she did?). She didn't seem to exercise, she didn't seem to know how to cook, she got up early to get the kids off to school but she seemed largely detached from the "family" life that got her into the situation in the first place (on her site she reveals she didn't make the cast at first, after being referred by NeNe). But her husband, Eric Snow, seemed even more detached, although I'm sure the producers purposely played him to be the unconcerned father-husband who doesn't have a clue that his wife blows through $5000 a week in spending money.

Kim Zolciak quickly became the butt of watercooler jokes and happenstance when it was discovered that not only was she rinsing a married man, but that she chainsmoked and treated her kids as equals to her. Kim, NeNe and Sheree had the distinction of being the "Housewives" that actually hung around non-housewives on the show. Kim, who almost lost all credibility with the singing episode with Dallas Austin, soon became the sympathetic figure when you juxtaposed her with the married women, especially NeNe ...

NENE LEAKES' IS NOT NECESSARILY REAL, BUT NORMAL
NeNe Leakes was the viewers' favorite, but not because of what she had or even who she was, largely it was because of who she wasn't: NeNe wasn't filthy rich, NeNe wasn't a hater (although she was jealous, particularly of Sheree'); she wasn't obnoxious about money like the rest were (and the rest of them were.) She had a normal husband with a normal house (rumored to have foreclosed, but aint that the realest?).

LISA CAN SELL ANYTHING

Lisa Wu Hartwell was the firestarter, the one who could gab with the best and give as well. Her husband former NFLer Ed Hartwell shared the screen as much as he could with his boo but Lisa's personality outshined him. What didn't become apparent until the reunion episode is that Lisa may be cause of NeNe and Kim's disagreement, for it was Lisa that went back and told Kim that NeNe derided her singing. Also at the reunion it was discovered that the Wu in Lisa's name may be short for Wu Tang, as she bucked up on Kim at least twice.
But for the most part, the reason why the show worked for ATL is because the women didn't play themselves. I can honestly say that I don't think the women embarassed themselves or the ATL, although it may give the impression that the city is filled with tons of women with disposable income but I doubt it. Will there be a season 2? I heard it's in the works.

Turning a Show Into a Housewife

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

No matter what happens, you've got to love NeNe.
The irresistible boughetto one of the all-girl supergroup, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" that has taken cable airwaves by storm, NeNe Leakes has a down-home earthiness that people can relate to.
She's just elegant enough to correctly pronounce the Chablis that she wants to drink, and just street enough to cuss you out if you don't refill the glass after she's consumed it.
She's one of five women that have changed the face of cable TV this fall.
There's the plastic-barbie antagonist, Kim Zolciak, who has a
mysterious Big Papa
who can pay for a $70,000 Escalade after a 10-second phone conversation.
Then we have Lisa Wu Hartwell, a doll of a woman with a thousand-watt smile and personality to match, while her dutiful former NFL husband smiles on command in the background.
There's also the designated doberman of the group, Sheree Whitfield, an NFL divorcee who has made no secret that she intends to get alot of money from the settlement.
Then there's the NBA baller's wife, DeShaun Snow, a likeable girl that smells of new money but who is sweet as pie, except in one humiliating scene where she and Lisa shop and DeShaun throws around her husband's contract terms ("NBA contracts are guaranteed, NFL's aren't) like she was giving recipes for jambalaya.

Ah, but NeNe Leakes, now that's the one we gravitate to. It's been rumored that her house maybe foreclosed on (sounds like people we know); her son is a thug (hey, who's isnt?); her husband's supposedly done some bad business deals (hey, our president's made a few). She's got beef (welcome to the club!): Speaking of which, they say the tiff with Sheree was more philosophical than not; the one with Kim is basically one of convenience for the geniuses over at Bravo (but Kim vs. Lisa is more personal).
The show is based in a far away alternate version of Atlanta where there is no housing crisis and people have enough time on their hands to go to the spa midweek and throw parties on the weekend (Did we mention Lisa Wu's Master P-like drive and determination to start, like, a gazillion businesses all the while her hair stays perfectly coifed?). Perhaps it's this fictionalized view of life that has us mesmerized. Either way, it has made the rounds as one of the most talked-about TV shows this year. Now, will Bravo bring it back for Season 2?
