Do You Have An Alter Ego?

Thursday, September 17, 2009

The success of Beyonce's "Sasha Fierce" album brings to mind the question of alter egos.
Do you have an alter ego, a side of you that allows yourself to do things you normally wouldn't do?
Many people use alcohol or other drugs to become less inhibited and, loosen up, when they are socializing. Others simply tap into a dormant side of themselves, a side that few people get to see, when they want to.
Is it beneficial to do so? I've long ago thought that some people have split personalities, but there seems to be benefits to becoming "another person" when the time is right.
What about you? Do you have an alter ego?

The End of the Pap Smear

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Scientists, according to an article in the NYT, say the pap smear is getting pwned by a new DNA test so thoroughly that its days may be numbered.
Pap smears, which have been routine since, have long been despised as invasive and creepy by women everywhere.
The Papanicolaou test screens for cancerous growths and is generally recommended that females who have had sex seek regular.
The study is “another nail in the coffin” for Pap smears, Dr. Paul D. Blumenthal is quoted in the article as saying.

The return of "Honey Magazine"

Thursday, February 12, 2009

With the Internet's unabated assault on all things printed, it comes as no surprise that the return of one of the more spunky if short-lived ventures in the 1990s comes back only in online-form: Honey Magazine.
Honey's best reportage came with the Mehki Phifer-Melinda Williams confessions, but quickly petered out as more deep-pocketed magazines eroded its fan base. Now, it's back again with a virtual twist. Check it out here.
Me, personally, I'd prefer my Honey a little more organic. Gon' guh.

Study: Masterbation Linked to Prostate Cancer

Thursday, January 29, 2009

First, let me just say ...
... DAYUM!!!
Ahem, now.
In absolutely crushing news to post-college single men across the world, a new study says masterbation is linked to early prostate cancer.
The god-awful study says that frequent jacking off in the 20s and 30s is a high indicator to prostate cancer. Interestingly, men who self-pleasured in their 60s and beyond (really?) have a lessened risk. Of course, the word "frequent" is not defined, so there is room for vagueness in the study. So, according to this study men in their 20s and 30s have a vested interest in settling down and being with a consistent partner. What a novel idea!
