Twitter Study of the Sexes Raises Eyebrows
In single black men, In social networking, In twitter, In twitterade
In a new study by Harvard University Business School, it's been noted that there is a social phenomenom inside Twitter that analysis clearly shows: Men don't tweet each other.
Oh, they follow each other and keep tabs apparently in silence, but the resounding sound coming from dude-to-dude communication is, instead of "Tweet tweet," "CRICKETS."
Seriously, an eye-opener for me was that Twitter is mostly male-dominated, which they say is in reverse to most other social networking sites (Could it be you must tweet within 140 characters?).
Other gems from the analysis:
Men have 15% more followers than women.
an average man is almost twice more likely to follow another man than a woman.
Among Twitter users, the median number of lifetime tweets per user is one.
the top 10% of prolific Twitter users accounted for over 90% of tweets.
Tamara Dobson: One Bad Mutha
In age of the MILF, In cleopatra jones, In tamara dobson
A couple of weeks ago, we missed the day of birth of an African American icon in the 1970s: Tamara Dobson.
Dobson stood 6 foot 2 inches tall (Tyra Banks would have died to have her on ANTM), and was, as the vernacular dictated at the time, "bad as a mutha." She broke down racial barriers at Vogue Magazine and had a degree in fashion.

The Maryland native had supermodel looks and acting chops to boot, mostly known as the poster child heroin in the blaxploitation flick "Cleopatra Jones."
Dobson died in 2006 after a bout with pneumonia and multiple sclerosis.
Study: Black Women More Likely to Stay Single
In age of the MILF, In beautiful black women, In pop wifery
If you've ever been a bridesmaid, then no doubt you've fantacized about that magical day when you yourself would be walking down the aisle, being given away by a barely composed father and proud, weepy mother.
According to a new study many women will be forever locked in bridesmaidom: Living Single, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Is there?
If you're a black women, a new study says you're much more likely to remain that way than a white woman.
Now, what does that mean? Primarily nothing, if you're comfortable and confident in yourself and your life's course.
However, if there's discontentment then this could be disparaging, but it doesn't have to be: The hard numbers indicate that while 21 percent of white women have never married, for black women that figure doubles to 42 percent.
A lot of the reasons for that center on another species of sorts: black men.
As we know, "prison" is a prominent term of what ails BMWs (know what that stands for?). Also, to be honest, a lot of black men no longer even want to get married.
Another cause could be black mens' preferences may be changing.
Whatever the case, the hard numbers show what they show. The bigger issue is how do black women feel about it? (hint, hint)
BET Finally Ready to Premiere Tatyana Ali's 'Buppies'
In age of the MILF, In hollywood's ignored celebrities, In pop wifery, In tatyana aliSunday, May 31, 2009

Tatyana Ali will be getting BET's first exclusively online show this summer. The show, called "Buppies," is about the socialite daughter of a Hollywood celebrity father ("Baldwin Hills"?) who clings to her friends ("Harlem Heights"?) after his death. The show was announced last fall and has survived a torrid pace of revisings and is ready finally, BET says. It's a big move for Ali, best known for "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," but dangerous for actors that want to be considered for big-screen roles. The show premieres Sunday, June 28.
Check out some video for "Buppies," the new BET series.
10 Questions Inquiring Minds Be Wanting to Know
In 10 questions, In cassie haircut, In cassie nude, In fail, In inquiring mindsFriday, May 29, 2009

It's always good to get questions that we have out of the way sometimes. These are few that are bugging me and that I had to purge from my mental Rolodex:
(1.) How many of you knew Bad Boy singer Cassie's last name was "Ventura?" (Be honest).
(2.) How many of you said "Cassie Who?" when it was revealed she had some nude pics on the Web?
(3.) How many of you will agree that Susan Broyle sounds very ordinary?
(4.) Soulja Boy Tell'em
(5.) Doesn't Rihanna look like Prince?
(6.) How many of you go to the malls and be like "What recession?"
(7.) Was "Star Trek" really that good?
(8.) How many of us are waiting on Michael Vick to play again this fall?
(9.) Who said Dream could sing? Really
(10.)When will Jay-Z cut that raggedy hair?
The 'Black-Jewish' White House: Really?
In barack obama, In fail, In mona sutphen
An extraordinary alliance is being touted in some circles as it's been pointed out that the current makeup of the White House may usher in a long-lasting comraderie between blacks and Jews. The power-pusher has been identified as Mona Sutphen, a half-black, half-Jewish woman. And Obama's mother is Jewish, which makes him half-Jewish as well, some say. And? What of it?
Will Smith's Ex Starts Shea Butter Business
In butta, In fail, In popwifery, In shea butter, In will smith
There are a host of clever business names out there, especially little cute day cares and home-based businesses that play on words and the like. Then there is Sheree Zampino-Fletcher's new shea butter business: Whoop Ash.
I didn't make that up, Whoop Ash. Sheree and obviously some ill-meaning soundboards actually thought about this and went ahead with Whoop Ash.

The product, according to the press release, contains white honey, 31% organic Shea butter, grape seed oil, organic mango butter, and organic coconut oil.
Sheree is getting her grown woman on by becoming a church lady and marrying an NFL ballplayer, Terrell Fletcher.
Meanwhile, Sheree recently got hitched and her son, who is a very good football player, and father walked her down the isle and gave her away. One thing we know: She was'nt ashy.
