Janet Jackson holds it together

Monday, April 5, 2010

Janet Jackson, music royalty and one of the youngest 42-year-olds in the world, is back on the big screen in Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married, Too," and it seems that she and both Jill Scott were going through absolute hell while filming, even though part of the set was done in Barbados.
We all know Janet's ordeal with her brother Michael Jackson's death (and the ongoing NippleGate saga), but few knew that Jill Scott was going through a torturous divorce around the same time.
It says something when two music stars, not necessarily known for their acting (at least in the case of Scott) can pull off some fine, theatrical acting under stress.
Jackson said Perry is a stern director but he was patient with her after her brother died.
Perry was "constantly calling me, making sure I was OK, making sure that there wasn't anything that I needed or my family needed," she said.
Perry said he expects to do more movies about marriage and relationships in the future.
Jackson and her family are about to relive the horror all over again as a nasty trial over her brother's death is sure to open newly mended wounds.

Beyonce's a gamer

Monday, January 25, 2010

Next time you're playing video games online you could be going up against Sasha Fierce herself. Yeah, it seems Jill Scott isn't the only celeb that wants to "stay home from work and play vi.deo games". Beyonce evidently is a huge gamer.
"I play with everybody, and they curse me out when I make mistakes, and kick me out of the room. I love it, it's really fun because no one knows it's me," Beyonce said.
But I wonder what games does Beyonce play? Madden? Is she a "World of Witchcraft" type, or does she play "Doom"? Oh, I know, it's gotta be "Halo".

Smiling: A Sign of Being Healthy, Happy

Monday, May 18, 2009

Nobody smiles more, and looks happier in the music world than singer Jill Scott. Even though she's had her share of heartache and pain, I don't know what it is about her smile in particular, but it is absolutely heartwarming. Studies show that smiling is not only healthy, but it makes other people happy.
Interesting, people can be having the worst days but when they see a small child often times they'll smile. Not only does this calm the child and reinforce a state of happiness for them, but the adult feels better just gazing upon the youthfulness of the child as well. Being human is truly amazing.

Searching for: BBW that's not AWOL, but A-OK

Friday, November 14, 2008

In a time of scarcity one group stands to come up, well, big: Full figured women. It is a little-known but well documented fact that in times of calamity women "of whom much was given" become a sort of matriarch for tough times. Brothers see things in them that they had previously dismissed or ignored: Full figured women become topfeeders, nurturers that provide a very physical tug for the strugglers among us, men and women included. And who knew? BBW had recently retreated to the underground of popular culture, sufficient to live precariously through their less-than-healthy siblings or within online personas. But now, with so many stresses pulling on the average man, lucious, full-bodied BBWs are catching on: This phenomenon is truly understudied, but look for a marked increase of big women to rise to the fore in media, advertising, movies, etc., as the American psyche looks for those with ample bodies to supplant the usual image of skinny spokesmodels and leading ladies. Have you hugged your BBW today?
