Rihanna's 'dirty angel' pics for Rolling Stone

Monday, May 10, 2010

Rihanna continues to toy with the sex kitten imagery since the release of her album, and No. 1 "Rude Boy." This pics from her photo shoot for "Rolling Stone" definitely raise the ante and fall in line nicely with a proposition from mentor Jay-Z to be the face of a series of burlesque nightclubs he wants to kick off.

Is Beyonce about to retire?

Sunday, May 9, 2010

She's opened No. 1 at the movies, captured the Grammys, the acclaim, the fame, and even got Mr. Carter on her arm.
What if she decided to spend the remaining days of her life by the poolside chatting up girlfriends?
Could her music career stand the test of time? The trio of really good Destiny's Child albums, and the few solo LPs she's produced, are they timeless?
It's a good question, because one day -- probably sooner rather than later -- Queen Bey is going to walk away from it all.
At 27, financially Bey could retire tomorrow. Artistically, she's about done, too. What's left?
Yeah, Bey, we know you're terrified of having a baby, but soon you -- or Mr. Carter -- crave one.
Hits like "Dangerously In Love" and "Irreplaceable," and even "Bills, Bills, Bills" will be hoisted on the shelf next to "Respect," and "Please Mr. Postman".
Will Beyonce's music stack up?
As she ponders time away from the game the question -- Bey's place in the pantheon of great female soul singers -- is one worth considering.
Striesand, Diana Ross, Aretha, Tina Turner ... Will Bey be awarded diva status?

If you remember the Thundercats then you know that Cheetarah was one of the hottest cartoon characters in the game back in the day. Beyonce is "the hottest chick in the game" today, right? It's only right.
Check out some "Thundercats, Thundercats, Thundercats, HO! here.

What would a Kanye-Amber Rose Wedding Look Like?

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Matrimony. Wedding bliss. When two people make that solemn commitment to each other, you can oftentimes see the stars -- the hopes -- in their eyes.
Well, Kanye West and Amber Rose, are we there yet?
No rush here, but if Kanye and his model love do say those magical words --with this ring I thee wed -- it would look like a surreal scene out of some Tarantino movie, no doubt.
While the two have only been dating for about a year now, they have had a lifetime of experiences, and Amber Rose has defended Kanye on more than one occasion. This is how it would go down:
The Best Man: Jay-Z would probably do the honors. I know, I know, he hasn't known the College Dropout for a terribly long time, but it'd be a big honor for Kanye, who looks up to him. (Besides, Jay gave Kanye his big break, using his beats on "The Blueprint," and then signing him to the Roc record label).
Maid of Honor: While Bey would be a favorite, we think Amber would probably dig into her past for this one. None other than her former BFF/boyfriend pal, Tiffany aka "Trevon". I know, I know, freaky.
Reverend: Okay, I'll bet Rev Run came to mind, didn't it? Well, I think ole Kanye, being from the Chi, is going to go traditional for this one and bring in somebody of the cloth back home. Besides, Rev Run is awful busy with Twitter these days.
Of course the guest list would be a who's who of the music and fashion industries, with live performances by a select few artists that Kanye admires. The treat however would be the reception, which Dr. Dre would be the deejay. Kanye has credited Dre as his inspiration for beat-making.
To top it off, Ye and Amber would parade around the reception hall, slizzard for all to see.
Well, will all this happen? And if so, when?

The Kanye Factor

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

The hottest rapper not in jail is Kanye West.
Sorry, Jay-Z. Apologies to T.I., Lupe, etc. Kanye musically has the Midas touch, and his peers know that more than anybody. Ask Common or John Legend, who's albums breathe Kanye's elastic soulfulness. Ask Maroon 5. Ask T-Pain. Ask Drake.
Kanye's time to take the throne is now, similar to when Jay-Z, by default, reached hip-hop's highest echelon. If it were not for the untimely deaths of the Notorious B.I.G. and 6 months before him, Tupac Shakur, it is arguable that rap fans would even know Jay-Z outside of New York.
Kanye is in a similar situation, with his mentor, Jay-Z, comtemplating time off to spend with Beyonce, and no elite rapper on the scene or for the forseeable future, now just may be time for Kanye to assume rap's top throne. All he has to do is stay out of jail, and stay alive (both are hard for a rapper these days). Of course, there have already been missteps, but nobody's perfect.
The measure of a good artist used to be in his/her crossover appeal. Kanye nailed that in one album and has since taken off into the other-worldly-realms of exploring rock and classical music.
The throne is his for the taking, but will he take it?

Beyonce's a gamer

Monday, January 25, 2010

Next time you're playing video games online you could be going up against Sasha Fierce herself. Yeah, it seems Jill Scott isn't the only celeb that wants to "stay home from work and play vi.deo games". Beyonce evidently is a huge gamer.
"I play with everybody, and they curse me out when I make mistakes, and kick me out of the room. I love it, it's really fun because no one knows it's me," Beyonce said.
But I wonder what games does Beyonce play? Madden? Is she a "World of Witchcraft" type, or does she play "Doom"? Oh, I know, it's gotta be "Halo".

Renowned economist a closet/wall freak?

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Famed economist Nouriel Roubini, known for his dire predictions of the U.S. economy, is still giving the blues to Wall Street. But we hear his street is being renovated as well. Tribeca, where Jay and Bey have a place, has had some real estate shufflings as of late. We wonder if Roubini's place, you know the one with the interesting decor, was affected. Yeah, last fall it was revealed that Roubini had "plaster vulvas" on his walls. There were no pics, though, until now. Maybe this is some metaphor of some sort (Pinky cookies in a plastic bag?) or maybe it's just, well, a repressed Ivy League old dude getting his freak on.
Now, to put this in perspective, this is like Alan Greenspan revealing that he has a rare vinyl collection of NWA records. It's just so, against the grain.
But then, maybe it's just a repressed Ivy League white dude getting his freak on. I hear there are quite a few of them.

Beyonce Closes Out 'Dream' Decade

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

If a little girl from Houston, Texas, closed her eyes and dreamt that she could, in 10 short years, pdisband the top-selling girl grou in music history, invent at least one dance craze per album, and have millions of fans -- male and female -- imitate her very essence, then that little girl still wouldn't sum up what Beyonce Giselle Knowles has done in the 00s.
As Bey's place as Top Female Artist of the Decade is considered, what needs no consideration is the fact that from 2000 - 2010 will most definitely be viewed as a time of savage war, depressed economy, and yet, when it comes to entertainment only one woman has shouldered the brunt of the burben: Bey.
Stardom actually came three years before the millennium, in 1998, when Destiny's Child released "No No No", which became the group's first hit. The group replaced members twice, but the centerpiece remained Bey, who who's stirring vocals were undeniable in black R&B at the time.
It was all a dream, but became a "Sweet Dream" in 2008 when Bey married rapper Jay-Z and the two released platinum albums that same year.
|As 2009 comes to a close, Bey is the consummate female artist, combining acting, dancing, singing, even rapping into the Beyonce Experience.
What will she do from 2011 to 2020?

Star Power: Beyonce had it at age 5

Monday, November 30, 2009

World music star Beyonce began her path to the biggest woman in entertainment more than 25 years ago. The 28-year-old published video last week of her showing her stuff as a little girl.
Who would think she would go on to become pop music's biggest star since (wait, I forgot about Rihanna). Anyways, Bey is a friggin' rock star.

Alicia Keys releases 'Empire State of Mind 2'

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Continuing to leak her mega-album "Element of Freedom", Alicia Keys recently let another version of her anthemic "Empire State of Mind," this one dubbed part II, slip out. And I must say, I like this version better, even without Jay-Z. It's more Earthy, less hip-hop but more, well, Keys.

Jay-Z disses models for wifey?

Monday, November 23, 2009

Rapper Jay-Z is taking his vows to the stage with him. The New York rapper reportedly stiffed armed Victoria Secret models at a fashion show last week, refusing to be photographed with them out of respect for wife, Beyonce.
Evidently many of the girls were looking forward to getting snapped with the celebrity, but Jay had other plans. This follows photographs about a week ago of Beyonce getting out of a car--with paparazzi in position to snap crotch shots-- covering up her legs with a coat.
Kudos to them both. The couple is taking pains to respect each other in a hectic sex-starved environment. The only thing is, will Jay also refused to be photographed with Rihanna; will Bey refuse to let herself be groped on stage by her dancers?
How far will they take it?

Rihanna: I Miss Chris

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Prepping for a new album and trying to focus on her music, Rihanna, in an interview published in The Sun, says she when she hears ex-boyfriend Chris Brown's music she won't turn it off, rather, just the opposite. "I don't snub or turn it off; I listen. I like his music."
When asked if she missed the "I Can Transform Ya" star, RiRi replied: "Sometimes. Actually, yes."
That's not to say she'll get back together with him, but, she says, "There are a lot of reminders, like a lot of hotel rooms, a lot of places we've been to together, music.
Truth is, if RiRi did get back with him, the backlash would be brutal and final: Not only would Tyra Banks, the record-buying public, and Jay-Z, her mentor, bail on her, but "The Big O" would act a fool.
And for her career, that would truly be Russian Roulette.

Jay-Z, Will and Jada back 'Fela' musical

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Big hip-hop stars Jay-Z and Will Smith and wifey Jada Pinkett-Smith are throwing their weight behind black Broadway musical "Fela" with the announcement that the trio will be producers. The "Fela" blog has added a "Shaun 'Jay-Z' Carter and Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith present" tag to the web site's banner.
The play, a homage to Nigerian music artist Fela Kuti, will debut next week in New York and is sure to bring out the celebrities now that two of the most recognizable names in show business have joined in.

Beyonce upstages Lady GaGa in 'Video Phone'

Well, Lady Gaga had her first real opportunity to shine next to a luminary, and she kinda fell back big time. In the "Video Phone" video, directed by Hype Williams, the woman known for the most outrageous outfits was upstaged by Beyonce in every clip. The homages to Hollywood were evident when the clip came on and you would have figured that it was just up Lady Gaga's alley right? Wrong.
She played it straight. This is a woman that had blood curdling out her chest at the VMAs and she's with a filmmaker who gets off on blatant color orgies, and she shoots her shot with a white dress on.

Other than that, the song is just okay, but the video really signals the return of Wiliams, who's been kinda low key lately. Check the video out in the right rail.

Beyonce to do Thanksgiving Special on TV

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

In a case of network television bringing superstardom to your living rooms, ABC says it will broadcast Beyonce on Nov. 26 for a Thanksgiving special.
The special is geared to promote the deluxe edition of Beyonce's album "I Am ... Sasha Fierce" and a live CD/DVD.
The fact that "I Am" was released in 2008 shows you that Bey is serious about not producing any new material until she gets her long-awaited hiatus from the business.
But the burning question is, who exactly will America be sharing their Thanksgivings with? the newly married star-singer Beyonce (and Jay-Z)? or the booty-shaking, Mama-afraid-to-let-their-schoolgirls-watch Sasha Fierce?

Twitter Beard Masks: Trick or Tweet?

The holiday mask season is in overdrive as youngens scurry about the stores to find costumes to look spooky in. One of the more curious items this year is the Twitter Beard Mask.
NOw, if you already have a beard then it's not much use to you, but if you don't then ... You can download the Twitter beard mask, cut it out and commence to scaring people immediately if you wish.
What's that? Oh, even Beyonce herself has one? Figures.
