Bey, Alicia Keys go Carnival style

Your favorite superwomen, Beyonce and Alicia Keys, got into the Carnival spirit recently with a video shoot in Rio de Janeiro recently. Keys, fresh off a condo buy in New York, has to be glad she's not back in the States after a blizzard came through this past weekend. The Brazil shoot is for the duo's song "Put it in a Love Song," which will be released shortly under Bey's catalog. According to the Associated Press, the Brazil slum where the women were is the same ghetto that Michael Jackson performed his "They Don't Care About Us" video. (cue the crotch-grab and primal yell here).

Kelly Rowland to Do Miss Universe Pageant

In her first high-profile performance in the post-Matthew Knowles era, former Destiny's Child second fiddle Kelly Rowland is slated to perform at the Miss Universe pageant in August.
Kelly will perform her No. 1 hit "When Love Takes Over," with DJ Dave Guetta. Also on the bill is professional wrestler-lookin' Flo Rida. Kelly has been busy with her Bravo TV show "The Fashion Show," where she co-signs what other co-hosts say and rocks different colored nylon dresses with heels.
Hey, it's another notch away from the Beyonce brand and closer to Team Kelly. YEY!

Is Beyonce Biting off Lady GaGa?

We don't want to get into swag-jackin' but alot of similar props and outfits on the recent Beyonce tour are looking mighty Lady GaGa-ish. Just sayin'.

House of Dereon launches 'Sasha Fierce'

Inspired by her latest album and timed to her world tour, Beyonce and mom Tina Knowles have launched a clothing line based on the singer's alter ego, Sasha Fierce.
The collection, Tina said, is “edgier and trendier and reflects Sasha Fierce’s daring and outgoing attitude.”
Mama says the outfits Beyonce and her performers wore were an inspiration also.
“When the tour started, we noticed the definite style of it,” Tina explained. “Thierry Mugler designed the clothes for the tour, but we really wanted to celebrate the style and interpret that into a collection.”




Beyoncé, who said in a statement “the line really exudes a different side of my personality, which I am grateful that I can express,” had a lot of say in the creation of the collection, Tina said.


“She definitely tells me what she likes and what she doesn’t," Tina said of Beyonce. "It was her suggestion to line the rips of the jeans with the mesh and lace,” she said. “It makes the jeans look really different from what’s out there.”

Kelly Rowland Reaches No. 1 in UK

Former manager Matthew Knowles is probably wincing right about now, because her favorite Houston homegirl, Kelly Rowland has a hit record right now.
And it's across the pond.
Kelly's song with French DJ Dave Guetta is No. 1 with a bullet on charts overseas, with nary a spin in the States. Figures, Kelly turned her attention to Britain last year when she bought a property in London.
It's got to feel good for Kelly, who played second and third fiddle here under the tutelage of Knowles. You go, girl.

Honestly, Is Beyonce the Best Ever?

For argument's sake, let's say you could build a female super-artist: This person would be physically attractive, have a platinum voice.
You would start her off young, preteen and get her accustomed to being in a group and performing at events.
You would put her in a girl group and if you were her mother or father, you and your spouse would put your careers on hold and hone the skills of the group and your daughter in particular.
Let's say this female super-artist embodies skills of all the greats: the house-rattling voice of a Mahalia Jackson, the looks of Diana, the legs of Tina, the drive of Janet.
Let's say the girl group blows up and shatters all kinds of records, and then, she starts a solo career and works nonstop for 10 straight years.
(Whew).
Even if you did all of that, you still wouldn't have Beyonce Knowles, who, since her marriage to Jay-Z, has started to rap on her tracks now.
Is she the best ever?
She's certainly a candidate.

Beyonce 'Tightens' Grip on London

There is denim, then there are blue jeans: Beyonce wore some blue jeans yesterday in the Knightsbridge area of London, England, that will instantly cause a fashion attack for the impressionable.
Denim this time of year in the States is cool, but it's so darn hot outside! Go for the breezy cotton (not that thick stuff)or thin nylon to get through the day.

Beyonce: It's Time For A Break

After a month of post-marital bliss, prepping a "Fierce" alter ego and calling out to "Single Ladies," everywhere, Bey needs a timeout.
Megastar Beyonce says she's taking a much-needed break. "My priorities are slowly changing," Beyonce said in a recent interview.
"After this [summer] tour I might take two years off. I've worked hard enough to be able to do that, We (Jay-Z) try to sync our calendars. I started working on my tour a year ago to make sure I had time at home."
Word is that hubby Jay-Z is longing for a Jay-Junior. Or will it be a Lil Destiny Chile? LOL

Earth, Wind & Fire: Rihanna, Keyshia Cole, Ciara to Tour

In a triple threat few industry insiders saw coming, Rihanna, Keyshia Cole and Ciara are plotting a North American tour together. You can call it Earth (Rihanna), Wind (Keyshia Coles) and Fire (Ciara) or better yet, RiRi, KeyKey and CiCi. RiRi reportedly wants "strong women" to join her on tour. Few women singers are as strong as Keyshia Cole who's had to endure a mother addicted to crack and who left her to be raised by foster parents. Ciara, well, she needs all the help she can get with her new album. And RiRi? She just needs to get back to the music. The festivities should start around September.

Beyonce's Touring ... Can Solange Come? YES!

When megastar Beyonce announced her 2009 tour Monday morning, people wondered if Solange was on the bill as well. Turns out she is.
And that's good, I mean, it woulda beem kinda strange ... and unKnowles-like for Big Sis not to give Lil Sis a hand. (See Nightmare on Hadley St.)
Bey's tour starts at New York's Madison Square Garden in June and ends in Vegas on July 30-August 2.
