Disrespect in a Relationship: Is There a Limit?

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Say you and your significant other are arguing something terrible. Is it okay to just say anything or are there rules of engagement?
Say he goes below the belt by mentioning "Yo Mama." Do you probably say something about his "shortness" in the private area? Or do you fall back, knowing the situation will only escalate?
Or do you even care?
When two people are having it out is there a limit, a line that must not be crossed? And if so, how do you know when to back down?

Oh of course! There should be always a line or boundary when it comes to arguing with your mate. Respect must always be shown even in a heated battle. name calling, saying hurtful things that YOU know plays on your mates insecurities (i.e., small penis, weight gain) should be completely out of the arguement. stay on topic, debate, argue or even scream as the top of your lungs about what pissed you off(unless it happens to be the small penis or the weight gain; now THATS a whole nother story. LOL!)

Unless I have been WAITING for the argument in the first place, I generally don't let loose. If I planned on ending a friendship or a relationship in the first place, I have no problems using the opportunity presented to me as a way of calling it quits. Lol. Terrible I know

lol!! Yes, Emeritus, terrible!!
But that makes me wonder about somthing; why do people start or use an prexisting arguement to end relationships?

So if youre walking away, you just start verbally tearing that person to shreds?? thats not cool babe.
